Filter or No Filter

yeah, my dad cant go 3 sentences without swearing. I try to control myself because i dont want to be a grump like him haha

I don't want to get rid of the swear filter. When Cheif gets drunk he'll swear at people and the won't want to come back.

then something needs to be done about cheif the rest of the members dont need to get punished because he gets wasted and swears at people

i wouldnt worry too much about Cheif. He seems like a good guy who just likes to have fun. If i were you i could keep the swear filter and edit it if you feel like you need to.

we're not getting punished, its just a swear filter. People can swear all they want it just wont show up. I think it keeps people feeling that freedom but at the same time keeps the forum clean

I was giving an example. Anything could happen, a new member could join and create a very inappropriate name. If you need examples, pm me.

nah i dont need examples i was more of getting at if people are going to be like that then just ban them feeling free to post your feelings is nice some people abuse it over and over and those people should be dealt with by way of the ban hammer...yes halo/bungie reference. i mean we arnt a church quire here and paintball isnt the cleanest of sports. i do agree some things need to be filtered like names and all but is there a way to selectively put the filter on? like only put it on people under 18 or something?

I wish there was. I want there to be a way for users to turn the swear filter on or off, but forumotion doesn't give me that feature...

Keep the filter. I can't speak for all kids, but I'm trying to break the habit because soap taste nasty. Some words should be allowed though, as there a expression of feelings. But swear words that can be considered a insult should be censored. Shit is a expression of feelings. a** can be considered a insult. That also can explain cheifs earlier question.

true, but an insult is still an insult if its got stars and stuff. Like, go to h*** still means go to hell. Its just got the stars. I think we should just watch what we say and do.
