Maine Paintball Swap

Post by Corey on Tue Oct 13, 2009 8:32 pm

There has been some talk about a local paintball swap lately. This would consist of meeting at a local field that could use the business. Then we could buy, sell, trade paintball guns and try them out on the field. There would be food, games, and friendships to be made. There are a few major decisions to make about this before it goes through.

1st, what field? I'm hoping that we can get fields that are interested in hosting this event. We need to choose what field would profit from the extra business, has given back to the paintball community, is willing to cook some food.

2nd, when? Most of us would like to do this next spring, but we do not have an exact date. Please post up your ideas on a date.

3rd, advertising? How would we advertise this event outside of the online community? Flyers? Word of mouth? At your local field?

Any help would be very appreciated. Please post if you would be interested in helping to organize this event. Please post if you would be interested in participating in this event. Please post if you have any ideas for this event.

This thread was the idea of zimmjeff, thanks for contributing to this forum and the local paintball community.

Here is his original post,

I also thought that it would be done in the spring to get excited for the season. Let me know what you think about this. If you think it's dumb be nice about it.

Agreed.

If people would like to start asking fields what they think about this that would be great. It doesn't matter if we choose a field if they don't want to host it.

I'm glad you would be willing to bring a grill, I would also be able to bring a grill and some food.

Edit: And I would definitely want discounted play.

Ya, then the field would lose alot of money. But it would be.... Maybe with the amount of players that might be going arrange for the field to have a ref 1 hr get 1 hr deal or however it goes???? Hmmm....

Probably, but if I owned a field and someone wanted to host an event like this at my field I would probably drop the field fee a little bit. If people are buying markers, they won't want to spend a lot of money on paint also, so if you dropped the price they would have more initiative to play. Just what I think but I don't own a field so I'm probably completely wrong.

I don't really know, we'll just have to ask the fields if there could be any discounts involved.

Ya, asking is always good before showing up with dozens of people, grills, and hundreds of markers.

I think we should pic a field, call them, and the second we get permission to bring people pull up in a truck full of people. Maybe in the winter, so its even harder on them. I would laugh so hard.... poor field owners.

Yea, spring sounds good, right after I get my tax return.

I think we shouldn't have a discount on field fees but rather we should get all day air (with the field fee). Since people are trying to sell markers obviously people are going to want to try out markers which means lots of air use without actually playing (would kinda suck if tons of people tried out your marker and you had to spend $10 just letting people try it out).

I kind of had the idea of having it at adventure sports.

I'm sure everybody wants it at their home field, but we're going to have to actually discuss why it should be at adventure sports.

Why not, without telling anyone, email fields and whatnot. Maybe discuss and ask how the fields and doing, and how there business is going. As long as there are no field owners watching the thread, it would be a easy way if we could find someone to do it.
