MainePB Teams

All summer we practiced at a homemade hyperball field, and once a month we would travel down to Bennett's Allweather Paintball to play in the BAP summer series' three man rookie tournament. There needed to be at least five teams at the event for the tournament to run. There were four tournaments that summer at BAP, and every single one of them was called off. Instead of going home, we paid our field fee and waited for a chance to play against the AXBL Sodus Predators, Ruthless, and some members of Splatz ESG. We lost every game, but as the summer went on, the games started to get closer. At the beginning of the summer, we would lose and the other team would still have 5-6 guys on the field. At the end of the summer, the would only have 2-3 guys left. It was a huge improvement, and the teams there really helped us shape up and learn the in's and the out's of tournament paintball.

At the end of the summer, Clayton could not afford to pay for his car as well as paintball. He sold his gear, and left Sub 5 for good. Going into the off season with a glaring need for more players, Sub 5 met Nic, and later his friend Andy. A couple indoor re-ball practices later, and it was obvious that they were going to fit great on our team. Sub 5 had a whole new look.
As the snow was melting, and the 2009 paintball season got underway, we received an invitation to come play at a private field against a pair of competitive NEPL teams. Knowing how playing against much more experienced teams helped us grow during our time at BAP, we decided that this would be great for our team. We started off a regular practice schedule, and looked for Maine tournaments to compete in. That is where MainePB.com came in.

Upon joining MainePB.com, Sub 5 found out that V-Town paintball was going to have a tournament series. A small, local 3-man tournament seemed like a great way for Sub 5 to start their tournament career. It was our turning point from becoming a team that just practiced a lot, to a team that actually competed. We planned on attending as many events as we could, even if that meant playing two tournaments in the same weekend. At our first tournament we placed 2nd, dropping a couple games and losing a close finals to the Mudkipz. At our next practice the mood was a little different, everyone felt that we let one slip away. The next month we had a big weekend. A 3-man open at V-town, followed by a 3-man novice at Lost Valley. We won both tournaments and began looking for sponsors. We still have two more V-Town events to go, and next year we are looking to tackle the NEPL, with the support of our new sponsor ANSgear.com.
